The December edition of Vogue India features a very relaxed looking Mindy Kaling on the cover, but as Kaling revealed in her Instagram post she thought twice about going ahead with the photoshoot.
"I was so excited to be asked to be the cover of ’s December issue but seriously nervous because I would have to shoot it six weeks after giving birth to my son Spencer," she wrote.
"“Post partum pandemic fabulous” is what I like to call it," she continued.
Most social media users agreed that Kaling looked fabulous, including celebrities such as Natalie Portman and Ava DuVernay who commented under Kaling's post agreeing how stunning she looked.
Her comments also brought to light the impossible standards set for new mothers.
"We do tend to have this overarching drive to shame people based off crazy standards," one Twitter user wrote.
Others thanked Kaling for inspiring them to be body positive.
In the when asked if she always wanted to become a mother, Kaling responds by saying, "Yes, definitely."
Kaling's honesty about being on the cover of Vogue has resonated with many who hoped this would highlight the pressures of being a new mum.
