Actor Don Cheadle earned praise on social media over the weekend, using his role as host of Saturday Night Live to stand in solidarity with members of the trans community.
Introducing the show's musical guest, Gary Clark Jr., the House of Lies star wore a black T-shirt which read "Protect Trans Kids". He later changed into a Russian hockey jersey which had Trump's name and the number 45 on the back.
Queer Eye cast member Karamo Brown took to Twitter to commend the move, writing: I have always been a fan of but him wearing a protect trans youth T-shirt & Soviet Union hockey jersey w/ “Trump” & “45” on the back on have now put me in the super fan category."
He added: "Subtle, Masterful yet Effective."
The Human Rights Campaign also tweeted their support.
"Thank you Don Cheadle for using your visibility to stand up for trans youth and being an ally to #ProtectTransKids," the organisation wrote.
Cheadle has been a longtime advocate for members of the LGBTIQ+ community, as well as promoting human rights issues and action on climate change.
