RuPaul Charles has added to his Emmy collection over the weekend—scoring another nod for ‘Outstanding Host for a Reality Program’ for Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
The iconic host wasn’t able to attend this year’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony—he's been busy attending Drag Con NYC—he did give a after the show via his rep.
“I am beyond grateful to the Television Academy for giving love to our show again this year.
“Providing an international platform for 113 outrageous, courageous and talented queens has been the greatest reward of all. None of this would be possible it weren’t for the incredible cast and crew of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and my partners at World of Wonder and VH1.”

Deadline has pointed out that it’s a shame Ru wasn’t there in person to top his 2016 acceptance speech where he noted: “Earlier this year I was quoted saying I’d rather have an enema than an Emmy. But thanks to the Television Academy, I can have both!”
RuPaul was up against competition from Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart for their show Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party as well as Gordon Ramsay (Masterchef Junior), Alec Baldwin (Match Game), Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum (Project Runway) and W.Kamau Bell (United Shades of America) for the title.
RuPaul’s Drag Race also picked up Creative Arts Emmys for ‘Outstanding Variety/Non-fiction Costumes’ and ‘Outstanding Reality Picture Editing’.
