Actress Sarah Hyland has opened up about the sexual orientation of her Modern Family character in a tweet to one of her fans.
Twitter user Francesca wrote on the social media platform that “Haley Dunphy is bisexual! #oneofus #oneofus”. She then asked Hyland to confirm whether this assumption was true.
Careful to add that Haley’s supposed sexual orientation was not confirmed by the Modern Family creators or writers, Hyland said: “I don't know what the writers would say? But I confirm.”
Fans of the show were quick to applaud Hyland—hopeful that the character’s sexuality would be written into an upcoming Modern Family storyline.
When Twitter erupted over the news, she later wrote: “Just to clarify, I havent been told nor is there anything written that would indicate Haley is bisexual. That's just my personal opinion!”
