Singer Ariana Grande has returned to Manchester in the UK to perform a 35-minute set for Manchester Pride.
It was always going to be an emotional event for the star, given it was her first time returning to the city since her One Love concert, which raised funds for the victims of the.
Taking to social media before the event went underway, Grande wrote: "on our way to manchester pride. love u so much. can’t wait to give u all our love. you’re my heart in every way. see u soon."
However, the event left some fans upset after access to the venue was closed off without warning as crowds reached capacity.
Complaining on Twitter, fans were quick to tag the event asking for a full refund.
"No warning. Nothing on tickets, email, Twitter or anything," one wrote.
"Fans travelled £80 and travelled across country. Nobody from company showing face at gate. Unacceptable and illegal."
Adding to tensions was the view that Ariana Grande, who identifies as straight, should not have been performing at the festival in the first place.
"Imagine selling out the principles of Pride to turn it into a £70-a-ticket festival on the promise of giving the gays Ariana Grande and then you put her on for 35 minutes," one concert-goer tweeted.
Hoping to smooth things over, Grande shared a live stream link on twitter for those who couldn't get in.
"I just wanted to take a second to thank y'all so much for having me here tonight. For so many reasons," she said on stage, performing her hit track 'Break Free' while holding a rainbow flag.
