It looks like we could have another mainstream queer blockbuster on the cards, with reporting that Love, Simon director Greg Berlanti has optioned the screen rights to queer teen coming-of-age/adventure novel The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue.
The novel from author Mackenzi Lee was released last year, and is about a young bisexual British lord who embarks on a tour of Europe with his secret crush. Also, in a nice touch of foreshadowing, the book has previously been likened to a '1700s version' of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda - the best-selling book behind Love, Simon.
According to Variety, Berlanti is understood to be developing the book into a TV series with Warner Brothers TV, and is looking for a showrunner to back the project before taking it to major television networks.
Mackenzi Lee took to Twitter to share her excitement at the announcement, tweeting "Well here's some news" alongside a link to the .
The adaptation would no doubts be another step in the right direction for LGBTIQ+ storytelling and representation on screens, with many Young Adult literature fans hoping Berlanti once again does a beloved book justice.
