"Get ready for the second coming."
Popular Netflix series Sex Education is coming back - and soon!
The show's first season, which premiered in January 2019 and stars beloved X-Files actor Gillian Anderson, was widely praised by audiences and critics for its nuanced writing and effortless LGBTIQ+ representation.
With Netflix sharing its first full trailer for season 2 on social media, fans of the show can look forward to watching protagonist Otis "master his newly discovered sexual urges", while juggling his relationship with girlfriend Ola and friendship with Maeve.
Meanwhile, Moordale Secondary comes to grips with a chlamydia outbreak, which, according to the show's official synopsis, highlights "the need for better sex education at the school". There will also be a bunch of new kids in town who promise to "challenge the status quo."
The trailer features a few other key moments, including a new love interest for popular character Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), a new hair colour for Otis’s unrequited love interest Maeve (Emma Mackey), and what appears to be more screen time for the hilarious Lily (Tanya Reynolds).
Series creator Laurie Nunn previously reflected on the show's success, describing the audience response as "so exciting."
“Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible," she said.
"I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.”
