For residents and carers at Sydmar Lodge Care Home in Edgware, England, the last four months of lockdown have meant isolation from loved ones and an interrupted entertainment schedule.
So, when the facility's entertainment manager Robert Speker decided to help residents recreate iconic album covers with an impromptu photo shoot, folks were naturally eager to participate - with heartwarming, hilarious and impressively accurate results.
Speker tweeted the resulting images alongside their corresponding covers, ranging from Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, to Madonna and Taylor Swift.
"Sydmar Lodge Care Home residents and carers have been recreating classic album covers," the carer wrote, adding that "the home has now been in lockdown for 4 months"
Needless to say, social media users were quick to leap on the feel-good story.
"What a great way to keep everyone’s spirits up," one Twitter user responded. "Must have been a tough 4 months for you all. Best wishes to everyone at the home."
Another wrote: "This thread has brought happy tears to my eyes this morning. It is a joy to see residents and staff making the most of this challenging lockdown."
Others said the thread reminded them of their own elderly loved ones.
"These are so moving," someone tweeted.
"Reminds me of my 97 year old grandmother telling me that on the inside she was still 18. Beautiful."
