The highly anticipated animated short In a Heartbeat was released last month and immediately gained a positive response worldwide for its portrayal of a shy boy and his crush.
Now, the animation has been featured on popular Youtube series ‘Kids React’—where precocious kids listen to classic albums and viral videos and share their unfiltered opinions.
From the opening frames, the kids are already excited about the film, with one exclaiming, “This is In a Heartbeat!"
As the story unfolds, depicting the main character desperately trying to hide his beating heart from from a boy in his class, the kids try and unpack what’s happening.
“Wait, are those two boys… is he in love with the other one?” nine-year-old Katrina asks.

“I think it’s awesome that they can portray something so amazing without using any words,” says nine-year-old Sydney.
As the boys are caught in a tug-of-war with the runaway heart, their classmates slowly gather around them with judging eyes.
“Those pieces of crap, don’t look at them like it’s weird,” says 13-year-old Jaxon.
“Why are you guys freaked out? one boy named Lucas asks. “He just likes him”.

“It’s really nice to see cartoons like that, and I want them to make more so they can know it’s okay to be gay or lesbian because that’s fine,” says Lucas.
Another added: “Boys can like boys, girls can like girls. We just wanna be ourselves. It doesn’t matter what people tell you what to be. You can be whatever you want,” says the youngest kid in the group, six-year-old Jordyn.
