Virgin Atlantic's special , from London to New York City, has been in the works since last year.
The flight, timed to coincide with last weekend's World Pride parade, promised jet-setters an entire cabin staff of LGBTIQ+ people, along with an on-board DJ, drag bingo, live performances, speed dating and a Judy Garland singalong.
The whole initiative sounds like it would've been a total hoot for those heading to New York for Pride festivities, but what about the unsuspecting vacationers hoping for the usual Jennifer Aniston rom-com and some shut-eye?
Well, as it turns out, they enjoyed it too - especially one family of four, the Powell family, consisting of Kerry, her husband, Sean, and their two sons, 4-year-old Calum, and 1-year-old Cody.
Kerry told DailyMail.com: ‘We booked the flight in September 2018. Virgin then phones us in October to inform us it had been chosen to be the Pride Flight. ‘They asked if we wanted to change flight which meant travelling on a different day which we couldn’t do, so we went ahead as planned.’ She said they had a ‘fantastic time’ as they celebrated with celebrity passengers including Ru Paul’s superstar Courtney Act, I’m a Celebrity winner Scarlett Moffatt, Strictly’s AJ Prichard and Netflix star Titus Burgess. Kerry added: ‘It was brilliant, the kids enjoyed it and the eight hours flew by.’

"We booked the flight in September 2018. Virgin then phones us in October to inform us it had been chosen to be the Pride Flight."
She added: "They asked if we wanted to change flight which meant traveling on a different day which we couldn’t do, so we went ahead as planned."
Lucky for them, Kerry said the whole family had a "fantastic time" getting in on the fun with a number of celebrity passengers including Courtney Act and Netflix star Titus Burgess.
"It was brilliant, the kids enjoyed it and the eight hours flew by. The goodie bags were amazing and the celebrities chatted with us and took photos. Overall fantastic time!"
Speaking about the flight , The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Titus Burgess said: “At a time when we’re seeing the rights of minority groups under threat, it is more important than ever we stand up and make our voices heard."
He continued: “The LGBTIQ+ community has made enormous strides over the last 50 years, and I’m so proud to partner with Virgin Holidays and Virgin Atlantic to mark this occasion in style and celebrate the hard-won freedoms from those who came before us."
Virgin pledged to donate a portion of all ticket sales (the flight sold out in 24 hours) to The Attitude Magazine Foundation, which promotes LGBTIQ+ community initiatives in the UK.
“We take our commitments to diversity and inclusion seriously, but you can rest assured we have a lot of fun along the way,” said Mark Anderson, global LGBTIQ+ lead for Virgin Group, adding that the flight was shaping up to be “a show-stopping, ground-breaking, one-of-a-kind experience.”
