A woman has proposed to her police officer girlfriend at London Pride—with a crowd of police and parade attendees excitedly cheering them on.
A video posted on Twitter by the British Transport Police shows her bending down on one knee to ask her partner—who is in uniform with her colleagues—for her hand in marriage.
The police officer says “Yes” and the couple embrace—with the dozens of people around them erupting into cheering and applause, waving rainbow flags.
The video has gone viral with hundreds of people sending well-wishes to the newly engaged couple.
At last year’s London Pride Parade, a similar event went viral after a policeman proposed to his boyfriend in the crowd.
However the police officer—Phil Adlem— about why he regretted such a public proposal, saying that he received a torrent of homophobic abuse online.
Adlem said it only underlined how important Pride events are for the LGBT+ community.
“Pride is an invaluable source of positivity and strength for anyone who has experienced abuse or bullying,” he wrote. “For every person who wants to attend Pride, there is a reason why it is still important.”
