Thursday 15 September promises to be a "Blessed, blessed day". Award-winning hit drama series The Handmaid’s Tale returns for season 5 with brand new episodes, fast-tracked from the US, premiering exclusively on SBS and SBS On Demand.

In the new season teaser, released today, June risks facing consequences for killing Commander Waterford, and struggles to redefine her identity and purpose. Serena Waterford is relishing her position as 'grieving widow' and looks to be attempting to raise her profile in Toronto, as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Set to the strains of a version of Christina Aguilera's 'Fighter', the teaser pits June and Serena on a collision course. Elsewhere, the series synopsis reveals that Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead - and orchestrate his own rise in power (of course). And, June, Luke and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.
