The TV WEEK Logie Awards are in their 60th year, and what better way to mark such a landmark occasion than for SBS to walk away from TV’s night of nights triumphant. And we believe we have the shows and presenters up to the task.

Most Popular Entertainment Program
It was a huge year for the LGBTQI community, with a successful outcome in the marriage equality postal survey and the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. Once again, SBS aired first-rate coverage of the 2018 parade. The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest also provided another opportunity to broadcast world-class entertainment. Meanwhile on NITV, The Marngrook Footy Show and Over the Black Dot continue to be a refreshing alternative to sports shows on other networks.

Most Popular Reality Program
It’s the genre that gets Australian talking, and one of the most discussed reality series of the past year was Undressed, in which strangers get to know each other by shedding their clothes. Also making viewers sit up and take notice was NITV series Family Rules, which follows an Indigenous family with nine sisters over a period of nine months. And The Chefs’ Line is a cooking competition with a difference.

Most Popular Lifestyle Program
SBS excels when it comes to more traditional cooking shows, with our series taking viewers around the world in the pursuit of delicious cuisine. Shows like Destination Flavour Singapore hosted by Adam Liaw and Gourmet Farmer, which saw Matthew Evans set up shop in Tasmania. Maeve O’Maera’s Food Safari Earth looks at the fresh produce from around the world used by people of all backgrounds here in Australia, while Shane Delia Recipe For Life considers ways to improve the quality of the food we eat. In On Country Kitchen, chef Mark Olive and comedian Derek Nannup explore closer to home, showing us the food to be found in Western Australia’s South West region.

TV WEEK SILVER LOGIE – Most Popular Presenter
When it comes to serious journalism, SBS is well represented by Insight host Jenny Brockie, Living Black’s Karla Grant and SBS World News presenter Janice Petersen. While for something a little less serious, there’s The Marngrook Footy Show presenter Leila Gurruwiwi and The Feed’s Marc Fennell, Jeanette Francis, Mark Humphries and Patrick Abboud, the latter of whom also presented this year’s Mardi Gras coverage alongside Magda Szubanski and Joel Creasey. Creasey was also on double duties, presenting the Eurovision Song Contest for SBS with Myf Warhurst. Want more multi-taskers?
