On Wednesday 6 November (AEDT), US citizens will vote for who they want to be the next President of the United States. It's a race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, and the world is watching.
SBS and SBS On Demand will be streaming a special SBS World News program hosted by Janice Petersen, which will share of the election from PBS News.
PBS News coverage of election day will be hosted by PBS News anchors Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett. It will bring coverage from every US jurisdiction as polls close and results come in for the presidential, vice presidential, House of Representatives and Senate elections.

Key moments to look out for during this year's US election
- Election Day - November 6 (AEDT): Americans will vote in person or via post for their preferred candidate. The projected presidential winner will be announced late into the night or the morning after. Every state will need to certify the results of the election within a set time frame between November 7 and December 12 (AEDT).
- - December 18 (AEDT): Candidates need at least 270 Electoral College votes to become president. On this day, electors will meet to cast their official electoral college votes.
- Electoral votes are counted by Congress - January 7 (AEDT): Congress counts and confirms the electoral votes.
- - January 21 (AEDT): The next president of the United States is sworn into power.
