Avocado isn't really a savoury ingredient to me.

Before moving to Australia from the Philippines, I didn't eat avo smash. I didn't add avocados to my salads or sandwiches. Sure, I ate guacamole, but very rarely.

What I did grow up with were avocado ice candy, avocado ice cream, avocado shakes and avocado mixed with sugar, milk, and sometimes, green jelly and sago.
For those wanting a break from savoury avocado dishes, here are seven sweet recipes to try:

1. Choc-avocado mousse

With a good helping of fibre and folate from avocados, this breakfast dessert is a great way to kickstart your morning.

Make the mousse all kinds of pretty with toppings of granola, berries and edible flowers.

2. Avocado lime slice

If you aren't built for baking or simply love the ease of recipes that don't require it, here's a tangy and nutty no-bake avocado dessert for you.

The creaminess of the avocados partnered with a sweet and nutty base of dates, coconut oil, linseeds, sunflower seeds and almonds make for a satisfying dessert.

3. Matcha avocado popsicles

Popsicles that won’t turn into a puddle of juice during an outdoor picnic? That's a resounding 'yes please'!

These iced treats freeze solid and are made of condensed milk, avocado and – for an interesting Asian twist – matcha. Cover the popsicles with melted white chocolate and chopped pistachios to make a crunchy outer covering.
4. Pistachio and avocado fudge

Who doesn't love fudge?

While typical fudge may make you hesitate over whether to have seconds, this pistachio and avocado fudge allows you to shrug and go for it. You can tell yourself you're eating fruit and veggies!

The sweetness of the fudge comes from overripe bananas and Medjool dates. The richness comes from the avocados and cacao. Linseeds, sunflower seeds, almonds and toasted pistachio give this dessert some texture and mixed spice makes it fancy.

5. Jamaican avocado ice cream

In Jamaica, avocados are typically eaten with bulla (hard, sweet bread). Sometimes, avocados are added to ice-cream.

'Sometimes' will become 'always' once you try this easy dessert at home.

Avocados, cream, milk and lime juice are all you need for this ice-cream recipe. It can be churned manually or with an ice-cream maker.
6. Dark-chocolate espresso mud cake

Where's the avocado in this recipe, you may ask?

After making two layers of gluten-free mud cake, whip up dark-chocolate mousse by combining avocados, cocoa, maple syrup and melted dark chocolate until smooth.

Spread the dark chocolate mousse on each cake layer and finish the dessert off with more of the mousse on top.

7. Avocado smoothie

Create a smoothie of avocado, pineapple, banana, date almonds, walnuts, coconut water and chia seeds. Finish off the smoothie with a pinch of salt.

It's not only filling, it's healthy too.
