"This food brightened our day when we spotted it," we said to Sunshine Coast Instagrammer Kadence Edmonds. And it turns out that's one of the things she aims to do with her naturally vibrant food.
Naturally vibrant? Ah yes, because those wonderful images and bright hues are all created with flowers, fruits and vegetables that are naturally colourful, or using almost exclusively, natural food colourings.
Kadence, who instagrams as , works as a gourmet food manager at a small independent supermarket. Her foray into food photography started about a year ago when she started creating food scenarios for the business to use on social media. But those, she says, were fairly simple. "I was always inspired by the numerous health food accounts that flood Instagram, with the natural foods, so vibrant and full of colour, but was always too doubtful of my own work to ever consider using this social media platform, because I would never be able to compete with these crazy beautiful creations." But four months ago she decided to give it a go. Her photography style, and the food she creates, have evolved from there.
"I love exploring and creating foods with a vegan trend, natural, gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar free, as it is fun to create flavours without the usual kitchen staples. Now my photography is no longer tied in with my work and is purely just my creative outlet for after work, I create these masterpieces for my own enjoyment, to share and hopefully inspire others."
She prefers to use only natural colourings: "When you see beautiful rainbow coloured foods and find out that it is purely just nature doing its thing then it takes it to next level. The only thing on the page that are coloured with food colourings are the doughnuts."
You'll find everything Raw Bounty bars (which evolved into Rainbow Bountry Bars), doughnuts, and rainbow sushi, but a lot of her posts are healthy breakfast bowls. Very, very colourful breakfast bowls.
