Over 20 teams were competing earlier this week in Lyon for the prestigious title of best pastry chefs in the world.
Each team of three members (a pastry chef, an ice-cream maker and a chocolate maker) had ten hours to create a chocolate dessert, a frozen fruits dessert, a sugar piece and a cake.
The details of the sugar guitarist and chocolate drummers conceived by the French team impressed the judges.
Switzerland was not so lucky as a part of its Dracula-themed sugar piece broke down. The team was able to put it back together quick enough to earn the third place, behind France and Japan.
Jean-Thomas Schneider (ice cream), Bastien Girard (chocolate), Etienne Leroy (pastry) and Gaétan Fiard (deputy) made the French team.
"It makes us very proud to be part of the world champions family. I can't believe it, it's been a year in the making," Etienne Leroy told France 3 after the win.
