India’s space agency, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today launched its 100th satellite from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle or PSLV took off today carrying 31 satellites in a single mission at 9.29 am IST.
Among the satellites is India's 100th satellite, Cartosat 2 -- a surveillance satellite.
“The 31 spacecrafts, including weather observation Cartosat-2 series satellite, will be launched by PSLV-C40,” M Annadurai, Director, ISRO Satellite Centre said today.
The co-passenger satellites include one micro and nano satellite each from India.
The other satellites include three micro and 25 nano satellites from six countries namely Canada, Finland, France, Republic of Korea, the UK and the US.
The entire lift-off process along with the process of placing the satellites in two orbits is to take the satellite 2 hours and 21 minutes.
