Queensland residents 'preparing for the worst' as Cyclone Alfred approaches

Cyclone Alfred has intensified from a category-one to category-two system. Premier Chris Minns has requested residents to reach out to State Emergency Service (SES) on 132 500 for help with storm damage, rising floodwaters, fallen trees, or roof damage. Credits- AAP

As Cyclone Alfred approaches a densely populated part of Australia's coast for the first time in 50 years, SBS Hindi spoke with residents and weather experts to understand the current situation, precautionary guidelines, and safety measures in place. The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) now predicts the cyclone will make landfall later than initially expected, with an estimated arrival on Friday evening or early Saturday morning.
