She has had retired as a professional athlete, opened a business, and got married. But what made Setyana Mapasa picked her racket up again and fought for her position to represent Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympics?


After competing at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, Australian badminton player Setyana Mapasa decided to retire as an athlete.

She then opened a badminton club in Sydney and also taught badminton at school.

To SBS Indonesian, Ty - as Setyana Mapasa chose to be called - said that her life during that time drastically changed - from an athlete to a "normal life".

What made Ty change her decision? How was her experience competing in an event as big as the Olympics?
