Ms Mami Emery, a Sydney-based Japanese teacher, is a mother of two and has experienced a lot of difficulties in teaching the language to children while living outside Japan.
Ms Emery developed a unique chart of the Japanese alphabet to make the learning easier and fun for children. "In Japan, we can see the Japanese alphabet everywhere, like in a supermarket. But here (in Sydney), you can't. So we need something different here (to remember the alphabet)", Ms Emery said.
In the audio, Ms Emery talks about her "Magic Hiragana" chart and shares her experience as a Japanese mum living outside Japan, and teaching the language to her children.
