The Cats of Gokogu Shrine is a documentary movie by Kazuhiro Soda, which follows dozens of cats living at a shrine in Ushimado, Okayama Prefecture, Japan and the interactions with the local residents. The film will be screened across Australia from 27 March. We spoke with the film’s director, cinematographer, and editor, Kazuhiro Soda. This story was first published in June 2024.
