Australia's COVID-19 vaccine rollout is one step closer to reality.

The Federal Government has signed delivery and operation contracts with multiple companies.

Logistical firms DHL and Linfox will be responsible for the distribution of tens of millions of vaccines across the country.

Digital security firm Accenture will supervise and keep records of vaccine doses per person, while also monitoring for adverse effects.

Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt praised the progress being made.

He says, "It's one of the largest logistics challenges in Australian history. We will be distributing to all Australians equally. We are on track and ahead of schedule with regards to all our preparations for a March 2021 rollout. Our whole approach has been to provide confidence by under-promising and over-delivering."

It will not be mandatory, and it will be free for all Australian citizens, permanent residents and most visa-holders.
