There are around 7,000 or so different languages in the world, yet only about 40 of them can be written in characters. Among them, Korean Hangeul is the only set of characters that has the definite written record of who invented it and why.
Today, Hangeul is regarded as one of the most systematic alphabets in the world, and is annually celebrated, designated as Hangeul Day.
This year, it is the 571st birthday of Hangeul, the native Korean alphabet invented by King Sejeong the Great.
In celebration of this day, SBS Korean Radio Program invited three Australians with diverse heritage background in its special program “I love you, Hangeul” to talk about their love and interest in learning Korean language and culture.
