SBS Radio Korean Program explores how small businesses owned by Korean-Australians are coping with the COVID-19 pandemic.


Miyoungs Skin Clinic, a beauty salon in Sydney, reopened its business on June 1. Coronavirus has forced businesses to change the way they operate. As such Miyoungs has had to make various changes in the way they operate in line with the government’s mandatory requirements.

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant economic impact across Australia, with many businesses doing it tough.

Many Korean small businesses such as restaurants, hair or beauty salons and cafes are not immune from the crisis.
As businesses reopen, small business owners grapple with regaining customer trust in terms of safety by putting a COVID-Safe plan in place.

SBS Radio Korean Program has conducted interviews with two Korean-Australian business owners who have shown their resilience and survived this unprecedented challenge.

General manager Chloe Kim from Miyoungs told SBS Korean Program about their experience amid COVID-19 on behalf of the owner.

The NSW Government launched its online COVID Safe Check for businesses in June.

Businesses can register themselves as COVID-Safe businesses by completing a COVID-19 Safety Plan followed by registering as a COVID Safe business.

This online tool was designed to help businesses get back to work safely.
