Former Prime Minister Paul Keating has criticised the Reserve Bank says it needs to do far more to help keep people employed.


Former Prime Minister Paul Keating has criticised the Reserve Bank says it needs to do far more to help keep people employed.

Mr Keating says the central bank should be funding what he's called mountainous sums of government spending to help the economy.

But Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has told Sky News the criticism isn't warranted.

He says, "So I think the bank has done an excellent job. We work very closely and cooperatively with them and I think providing that level of cooperation is a level of assurance to the Australian community, to the business community."
