COVID-19 is dramatically disrupting lives of close to 97,000 bridging visa holders in Australia who are unable to access the federal government’s COVID-19 support schemes.



 Highlights:

  • Eighty two per cent of temporary visa holders lost their jobs or had reduced hours due to COVID-19 based on a survey by Settlement Services International
  • Support services are inundated with calls for help as over two million temporary visa holders are excluded from the government’s COVID-19 benefits
  • Refugee and asylum seeker support services are calling on the government to provide basic financial support for temporary visa holders
