Travel bans sparked by the coronavirus outbreak are already having savage economic consequences for far north Queensland's tourism industry.


A Queensland tourism boss is demanding an unprecedented response to help the industry survive the savage effects of Australia's bushfire crisis and coronavirus travel bans.

The virus outbreak, which has shut down arrivals from China, has so far cost Cairns and Great Barrier Reef operators 25,000 direct bookings worth $10 million.
