Speaking with NITV Radio, Sherry-Lee, a proud Arrernte woman born in Alice Springs, reflected on her childhood surrounded by family, culture and community.
Her love for storytelling began early, inspired by the strength and resilience of other First Nations performers and storytellers. At just 14, she made the bold decision to leave home to pursue her education and passion for acting, later training at the Victorian College of the Arts.
Heartbreak High marked her TV debut, and working alongside other First Nations talent helped shape and ground the experience. In 2023, she was recognised with Pedestrian Television’s inaugural Screen Star of the Year award for her powerful performance.
More recently, Sherry-Lee starred in Thou Shalt Not Steal, playing Robyn, a young Aboriginal girl from Alice Springs—a role she approached with both depth and personal connection. Beyond acting, she’s also stepped into the fashion world, modelling for Haus of Dizzy’s Survival Day collection, showcasing her versatility and commitment to First Nations representation and Blak-owned businesses.
Sherry-Lee speaks openly about her life and the journey that’s shaped her, offering insight into what’s next. This was a really lovely yarn with someone who’s not only an incredible talent but a truly inspiring voice for our mob.
