India’s pro-boxing star Vijender Singh will compete against Australia’s Kerry Hope for the WBO Asia title in New Delhi on July 16.
Vijender has been unbeaten so far in all six professional bouts leading up to the title fight securing all six wins by knockouts. Vijender kick-started his professional career last year.
Hope on the other hand has a long experience as a professional boxer. The 34-year-old has 23 wins under his belts out of 30 bouts during a career spanning over 12 years.
The Welsh-born boxer has also held the WBC middleweight title and now moved to super middleweight to set up a contest with Vijender Singh.

Vijender Singh and Kerry Hope face off briefly.
"He is a superstar in India but all that has been said about him, Olympics, achievements, medals whatever, is all amateur stuff. I have seen it all, that stuff doesn’t faze me at all.
“He has been pro for a year, I have been pro for 12 years. I know the crowd will be behind him but I like being the underdog,” the 34-year-old Hope said.
Vijender doesn’t seem to be much bothered about his opponent’s experience in the pro-arena, at least he didn’t let it show.

He simply laughed it off. “All my bouts so far, I won easily. But those who say it’s been easy, I invite them to spend some time in the gym with me.
“It is not easy, I make it look easy. Against Hope also, I am looking at swatting him aside in a couple of rounds and going home,” he said.
Riding on his pro boxing success, Vijender also hopes to grab a ticket for Rio Olympics 2016 following the International Boxing Association’s green signal for professional boxers to compete in the Olympics.
