The year 2024 is coming to an end. And as the war in Ukraine is still going on, the main outcome of the year for the Ukrainian community in Australia, especially for those who came here to escape a full-scale Russian invasion, was the government's proposal to switch from temporary humanitarian visas to permanent visas podclass 851 Resolution of Status (RoS).

Key Points
  • As of December 12, 1227 Ukrainians and their immediate relatives, who are holders of 786 Temporary Humanitarian Concern subclass visas, received an offer from the Minister to permanently stay in Australia.
  • As of December 12, 146 subclass 851 Resolution of Status visas have been granted for this group.
  • The Australian government is considering additional options to support temporary visa holders from Ukraine who did not accept the Minister's offer of a temporary humanitarian stay until July 31, 2022.
