Indigenous rapper Baker Boy has announced a series of Australian tour dates and released a new music video ‘Cool as Hell’.
The 22-year-old, whose real name is Danzal Baker, was recently named 2019 Young Australian of the Year and his single ‘Mr La Di Da Di’ charted in the Triple J Hottest 100.
Dates are booked this April for headline performances in Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney in addition to the Parrtjima Festival in Alice Springs and the Byron Bay Bluesfest.
In his latest music video, launched to coincide with the tour announcement, the multi-talented artist shows off his dance skills at locations around Sydney.
“Cool as Hell is about letting the music take control of your body and that's exactly what the film clip does too,” Baker Boy said.
“It makes you feel bright and happy. Just makes you want to feel the music and dance.”
The video also features Baker Boy dancing with his brother Adam and father Josiah - something that was a "last minute decision" by director Gabriel Gasparinatos.
“I wanted to map Danzal’s journey and visualise how a young boy from North East Arnhem Land made it onto the world stage," he said.
"I felt that epitomised the clip's meaning and intention and really brought it home."
