In a recent , the elusive 18-year-old star revealed the upcoming project, and opened up about his successful rise to the top of the charts and his debut album due for release next year.

It's one of the first times the artist has spoken publicly about his Kamilaroi heritage, though he was tight-lipped on details about the project.

He spoke of his dislike of talking to media, preferring that his music "speak for itself".

"I hate feeling like I'm having a forced conversation," LAROI said, "I just hate talking about myself, to be honest. I'd rather not talk at all."
The artist's Adam Leber said that LAROI's style is unusual for an artist of his age and career-stage.

"Not a lot of up-and-coming artists, or even big artists, actually talk about s--t that happens in their life," he said.

"You can hear stories in his music, and that's why people gravitate toward him... (That's what) separates a hit song from a phenomenal artist."

He's also received public praise from fellow artists, with Ed Sheeran calling him the "biggest artist on the planet".
