Better Things

Aspiring actress Sam Fox deals with her eldest daughter asking to provide her with marijuana, her middle daughter constantly interrupting her, and her youngest daughter crying for no reason.

Sam discovers that the kids have trashed the house while she was away; her gynaecologist delivers unexpected news; she has to speak at a women and girls empowerment seminar at Frankie's high school.

Sam asks the director of the film she is working on if he'd like to have dinner at her house. Her friend Sunny thinks that they should have an affair, despite the fact that he is married.

Sam is thrilled to be considered for a possible lead role in a sitcom; she tries to cope with stress and exhaustion while still keeping up with Frankie's life.

Frankie falls sick, and Sam becomes worried when one of the mothers she knows also has to have surgery. As a result, she asks Phil if she has made a living will.

Sam has to deal with a number of issues, including people her age dating younger women, enduring clothes shopping with the girls, her friends' traumatic experiences, receiving attention at work, and helping Phil with an assortment of things.

Sam becomes frustrated when the mother of a child in Duke's after-school chorus bullies her into picking up her child from school.

Sam lets Max's friend, Harvey, know why she doesn't trust him around her daughter; Frankie feels that Sam is no longer fun, which leads to Sam hurting her foot to prove her wrong; a meeting with Frankie's teacher takes a strange turn.

Sam takes Max and a friend to a concert and reflects on her own youth as she observes their teenage shenanigans. Sam tries to get rid of an old table and must make a deal with Bulgarians, but receives a wonderful recipe in return.

Sam has trouble getting her girls to school when Duke wants to stay home sick. Later on, Frankie is sent home for using the boys' toilet and Sam learns Frankie is having problems at school.
