It would appear that new Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a big fan of 'RuPaul's Drag Race', a welcome development for LGBTIQ+ supporters of the trailblazing New York politician.
The telling exchange began with RuPaul tweeting: Dear Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, I ask that you guide my thoughts, my feelings and my perceptions. AMEN."
Ocasio-Cortez then replied, thanking RuPaul for being a "shining example of loving ourselves in our entirety, no matter what the world thinks."
She added: "You give me hope and strength every day!"
Later, while criticising the Washington Post's fact-checking service, Ocasio-Cortez quoted Season 10 contestant Monique Heart.
She wrote: “Facts are facts, America. We should care about getting things right. Yet standards of who gets fact-checked, how often and why are unclear.”
She continued: “Credit for ‘facts are facts, America’ goes to the illustrious queen Monique Heart.”
Heart soon replied, clearly awestruck by the reference.
“America, Miss Ocasio-Cortez has spoken! Make sure you support this beautiful and amazing icon," Heart tweeted.
"Love you and I am so gooped that you quoted me. Thank you.”
Fans and supporters were thrilled by each exchange, immediately campaigning for Ocasio-Cortez to appear as a guest judge on a future season of 'Drag Race'.
