Musician Chance the Rapper has taken to social media to inform his fans that his upcoming tour will be postponed until January next year.

While most tour postponements or cancellations bring on a wave of disappointment and criticism online, this one was a little different - namely, because the rapper opened up about wanting to spend more time at home with his growing family.

Already a father to four-year-old Kensli, Chance the Rapper welcomed his second daughter, Marli, into the world last week - with his wife, Kirsten Bennett, sharing the first photo on instagram.

The new arrival forced the father to make some difficult choices and prioritise his time at home over touring his album.

"I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour," Chance wrote in a moving post. "This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc."
He continued: "But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work. When Kensli was born, I went on tour 2 weeks later and missed some of the most important milestones in her life, but more importantly I was absent when her mother needed me the most.

"At this point as a husband and father of two I realise that I can’t make that mistake again. I need to be as helpful and available as possible to my wife in these early months of raising Kensli and Marli."

The rapper apologised to fans, explaining that they would be able to exchange their tickets for the new dates or get a refund.

"I apologise because I know how many people were counting on seeing me soon," he wrote.

"But I hope you’ll understand and forgive me in time."

Safe to say, the rapper's legion of fans were more than understanding.

"Go be a dad!" Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp commented. "We love u!"

"As hard as I’m sure it was, you’ll look back on this as one of the best decisions of your life," added musician Tennille Amor.
