Lady Gaga continues to use her platform to advocate for members of the LGBTIQ+ community, this week taking a moment on stage at New York's iconic Apollo Theatre to remind fans of the importance of using correct pronouns.
"We have a lot of things to celebrate - it’s World Pride Week," she said.
"I think Pride should exist 365 - all year - but I’ll take a f---ing global week!"
The star continued, reflecting on the significance of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, saying: "That was when our community said 'enough is enough!'"
Gaga then revealed to fans that one thing she'd learned in recent years was the importance of asking a person for their preferred pronoun, encouraging members of the audience to do the same.
"I wish to share this with anyone who is listening - not just in this theater, but around the world - ask the question: 'What is your pronoun?’"
She added: "Because for a lot of people it’s really hard and their pronoun is not respected or they’re not asked, and for me, I’ve grown and changed over the years in a lot of different ways. I’ve felt misunderstood in a lot of different ways.
"All of our hardships are different - I don’t mean to compare - I just mean to say we’re in this together and I’ve had a million reasons to want to give up, but sometimes, if you’re lucky you just need one good reason to stick around."
Earlier this year, Gaga used her Grammy Awards acceptance speech to , saying: "I'm so proud to be part of a movie that addresses mental health issues, they're so important.
"And a lot of artists, a lot of artists deal with that. And we got to take care of each other. So, if you see somebody that is hurting, don't look away. And if you are hurting, even though it might be hard, try to find that bravery within yourself to dive deep and go tell somebody and take them up in your head with you."
