Through its various initiatives and events, including the celebration of International Women's Day (IWD), the group, founded by Filipino community leader Josie Musa, has been championing Filipino women in Australia.
In the last 10 years, we have been holding IWD events to pay tribute to women and celebrate their contributions to society as well as girls to ensure that they grow up empowered to take on challenges along the way.

Annually worldwide, International Women's Day is celebrated on March 8.

Joining this year's International Women's Day celebration, Adhika Inc., in partnership with Kababaihang Rizalista Incorporated (KRI) - Sydney Chapter, will host the '2025 International Women's Day Forum and Dinner' at Dooleys Catholic Club, Regents Park New South Wales on March 15.

With the global theme, "For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”, the forum will feature discussions on critical issues affecting women and girls, including leadership, equality, creativity, sustainability, development, and the intersection of the green and digital economies. It aims to explore strategies for ensuring equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender.

A special segment will also unveil this year's "International Women's Day Honours List".

The list recognises outstanding Filipino women and girls who have demonstrated exceptional service, courage, determination, leadership, love and care for others.

In addition to Women's Day, the whole month of March is dedicated to Women's History Month.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the UN Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This document has become a blueprint for women's rights around the world.

In a previous Adhika event in 2023, Dr Zeny Edwards OAM expressed her gratitude to the group for holding such an event to recognise Filipinas' achievements and contributions to the wider Australian society.

An architectural historian, award-winning author and biographer, Dr Edwards, who has lived in Australia for almost 50 years, is a testament to women's talent and ability in leadership, making a difference in fields mostly dominated by men.

"I think your path to the future is guided by something higher than yourself," says the 2020 Medal of the Order of Australia recipient.
