I Verdi hanno accolto con favore la proposta del governo federale di ridurre i costi dei farmaci, ma la Coalizione non ha ancora detto se intende adeguarsi.
In vista del bilancio federale della prossima settimana, il governo Albanese afferma che un governo laburista rieletto ridurrebbe il prezzo dei farmaci elencati nel Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme a non più di 25 dollari a ricetta.
Il tetto attuale è di 31,60 dollari.
Il senatore dei Verdi Nick McKim ha dichiarato a Channel Nine che la misura di riduzione del costo della vita sarà ben accolta dalle famiglie, ma che è necessario andare oltre nel settore della salute.
"People are getting smashed everywhere they go with cost-of-living (pressures). And health is a big part of that. The Greens have long been calling for relief to be given to people in health and we would really like to see dental into Medicare. That would be a great thing for the government to do. And they still could do it in the budget next week. But as far as this announcement goes, it will provide much needed relief to millions."
La misura è inclusa nel bilancio federale della prossima settimana e si prevede che costerà al governo 689 milioni di dollari in più rispetto alle previsioni.

Il Presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelenskyy si è detto pronto ad un accordo reciproco con la Russia per la sospensione degli attacchi alle infrastrutture energetiche, dopo una telefonata di un'ora con il Presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump.
In una dichiarazione, Zelenskyy afferma che la telefonata è stata positiva e molto concreta.
Zelenskyy ha ringraziato Trump per il sostegno degli Stati Uniti e hanno concordato che i team tecnici si incontreranno in Arabia Saudita nei prossimi giorni per discutere i prossimi passi.
La segretaria stampa della Casa Bianca, Karoline Leavitt, ha dichiarato che si sta discutendo di un cessate il fuoco duraturo.
"We are now focused on a long-term peace agreement. So we've moved beyond just the economic minerals deal framework and we're looking at a lasting ceasefire. Right now, we're at a partial ceasefire. But again, the president is sending his highly skilled, intelligent and experienced team to Saudi Arabia later this week to continue fighting for peace in this conflict."
La Casa Bianca afferma che Trump ha informato Zelenskyy della sua telefonata con il presidente russo del giorno prima, quando è stata proposta l'idea di una pausa negli attacchi alle infrastrutture energetiche al posto del un cessate il fuoco totale di 30 giorni sostenuto da Stati Uniti e Ucraina.

The federal government's election pitch for cheaper medicines has been welcomed by the Greens, with the Coalition yet to say if they will match it.
Ahead of next week's federal budget, the Albanese government says a re-elected Labor government would reduce the price of medicines listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme to no more than $25 a script.
The current cap is $31.60.
Greens senator Nick McKim told Channel Nine, the cost-of-living relief will be welcome to households, but there is a need to go even further in the area of health.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he is ready to reciprocate with Russia on pausing strikes on energy infrastructure, after holding an hour-long phone call with US President Donald Trump.
In a statement, Mr Zelenskyy says the phone was positive and very substantive.
Mr Zelenskyy thanked Mr Trump for US support and they agreed that technical teams would meet in Saudi Arabia in the coming days to discuss further steps.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says there are discussions about a lasting ceasefire.

The White House says Mr Trump briefed My Zelenskyy on his phone call with the Russian president a day earlier when the idea of a pause on attacks on energy infrastructure was raised instead of a full 30-day ceasefire supported by the US and Ukraine.
That pause did seem in doubt, with Russia and Ukraine accusing each other of attacking energy infrastructure.

First-time author and Indigenous elder Wanda Gibson has won the top prize at this year's Victorian Premier's Literary Awards.
A long-time artist across several mediums - including weaving, painting and printmaking - Ms Gibson is the first children's book author to win the $100,000 prize.
She also won the $25,000 award for children's literature.
A fluent Guugu Yimithirr speaker, she is elder for the Nugal Warra clan group in Far North Queensland.
The judges described Ms Gibson's book 'Three Dresses' as a "real-life history, a truth-telling, woven with words".
