2016 has been Ben Barba’s best season since he captured the Dally M Medal four years ago.
His recent form has been so good that there was some talk that he may land an elusive State of Origin jersey, as a utility on Queensland’s bench.
Whilst that didn’t eventuate, there’s no denying his form and Barba told NITV’s League Nation Live this season’s success is due to small changes made off the field.

“I’ve just made some sacrifices. I gave up the alcohol and take away food in the pre-season to really to focus on my body and training and I’m reaping the rewards now and have been playing some good football”.
The Sharks are running hot, having won a club record twelve straight games, but Barba says the players aren’t getting to carried away, with the business end of the season not yet here.
“Obviously we’re pretty confident with the twelve wins we’ve had, but we’re lucky that we’ve got some experienced guys there that sort of keep premiership talk away.
“There’s still a lot of football to be played and there’s some good sides in the competition so we just take each week as it goes,” said Barba.
