Longtime LGBTIQ+ advocate Lady Gaga has delivered a powerful speech while performing as part of Friday’s Pride Week Stonewall Day concert in New York City.
“While we have made tremendous progress, we also find ourselves at a time when acts against the trans community are on an increasing rise. I will not tolerate this, and guess what? I know neither will you,” she said, promising to help “change the system of an extremely oppressive administration.”
Wearing an incredible rainbow denim number, Gaga added: “True love is when you would take a bullet for someone, and you know I would take a bullet for you any day of the week.”
The star's speech came just days after she to speak about the importance of using correct pronouns.
"I wish to share this with anyone who is listening - not just in this theater, but around the world - ask the question: 'What is your pronoun?’" She said to her audience.
"Because for a lot of people it’s really hard and their pronoun is not respected or they’re not asked, and for me, I’ve grown and changed over the years in a lot of different ways. I’ve felt misunderstood in a lot of different ways."
She continued: "All of our hardships are different - I don’t mean to compare - I just mean to say we’re in this together and I’ve had a million reasons to want to give up, but sometimes, if you’re lucky you just need one good reason to stick around."
