Shawon Khan wants to tell 'our own stories' through film

In 2020, he made the film 'Geometry, The Movie' in just five and a half days of shooting, and it is currently streaming on Amazon Prime in the UK and US. It was previously featured on the ZEE5 platform. Filmmaker Shawon Khan spoke to SBS Bangla about his experience working on stories from the subcontinent while based in Australia.

Despite having no prior filmmaking experience, Shawon Khan, who works in the Australian public service, always harboured the desire to do so.

Khan took inspiration from another renowned filmmaker, Mira Nair, who once said, “If we don't tell our own story, no one else will.”

In an effort to tell his 'own story,' Shawon Khan produced the film 'Geometry, The Movie' in 2020.

In 2021, the film was nominated for the 'ZEE5 Global Contest Festival' as the only entry from Australia.

The film is currently streaming on Amazon Prime in the US and UK.

Shawon Khan advises new creators to focus on creating good content initially, rather than solely chasing money or fame.
