In 2022, Cath Mendez and her family made the bold decision to leave the comfort and stability of Abu Dhabi for a fresh start in Australia. It was a move driven by hopes of a better life, but the reality of starting over soon proved more challenging than expected.

From the very first month, it was incredibly difficult to find a place to live. Securing a rental in Australia is tough, especially if you don’t have a rental history. Eventually, we found a house, but the rent was extremely expensive. It took my husband seven months to secure a job, and during that time, we watched our savings slowly deplete, and that’s when we really started to question if we made the right decision.
