A small community that hopes to resettle on an uninhabited island in New South Wales

Residents of Cabbage Tree Island were forced to leave their homes back in 2022 after devastating floods. Shipping container-style pods were meant to be temporary housing arrangement but three years on and many families remained there. Last week's storms brought by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred prompted residents to evacuate those pods as well, many hoping to return to the island one day.
