Il presidente Donald Trump ha firmato accordi economici e di difesa con l'emiro del Qatar, lo sceicco Tamim Al-Thani, durante la seconda tappa del suo tour in Medio Oriente.
Il Qatar ha accettato di acquistare aerei e droni militari Boeing, con il C-E-O dell'azienda presente alla firma.
Il presidente Trump ha elogiato l'emiro del Qatar come un uomo eccezionale.
"We always had a very special relationship. And we came from Saudi Arabia, where we have another great man over there that's a friend of yours. And you two guys get along so well and like each other, you sort of remind me a little bit of each other, if you want to know the truth. They're both tall, handsome guys that happen to be very smart."
Trump ha ricevuto un'accoglienza da tappeto rosso a Doha, con jet F-15 del Qatar che hanno scortato l'Air Force One.
Il Qatar, che ospita il Comando Centrale degli Stati Uniti nella base aerea di Al-Udeid, avrebbe anche offerto al presidente Trump un lussuoso Boeing 747-8 come Air Force One temporaneo.

Il primo ministro Anthony Albanese è arrivato a Giacarta per iniziare una visita di tre giorni in Indonesia, il suo primo viaggio all'estero dopo aver ottenuto una rielezione decisiva all'inizio del mese.
Il programma ufficiale inizia oggi con una cerimonia di benvenuto al Palazzo Presidenziale, ospitata dal presidente Prabowo Subianto, a sottolineare l'importanza del partenariato strategico tra Indonesia e Australia nella regione indo-pacifica.

Una controversa statua del capitano Cook sarà smantellata dopo che il consiglio comunale di Yarra ha votato all'unanimità per la sua rimozione.
La statua, che si trova all'ingresso degli Edinburgh Gardens di Melbourne, è stata oggetto di ripetuti atti di vandalismo.
Attualmente in un magazzino, il consiglio prevede che riparare e ripristinare la statua costerà circa 15.000 dollari, considerando che negli ultimi 25 anni sono già stati spesi 100.000 dollari per la sua manutenzione.

President Donald Trump has signed economic and defence deals with Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim Al-Thani, during the second leg of his Middle East tour.
Qatar agreed to buy Boeing aircraft and military drones, with the company’s C-E-O present at the signing.
President Trump praised the Qatari Emir as an outstanding man.

Mr Trump received a red carpet welcome in Doha, with Qatari F-15 jets escorting Air Force One.
Qatar, which hosts the U-S Central Command at Al-Udeid Air Base, is also reportedly offering President Trump a luxury Boeing 747-8 as a temporary Air Force One.
While a decision is pending, critics warn it could be seen as an improper gift from a foreign government.

Mr Albanese’s Labor Party secured a second term in a landslide win, defeating opposition leader Peter Dutton, who had proposed breaking tradition by visiting Washington first to pursue a better tariff deal with Donald Trump.

A controversial statue of Captain Cook is to be scrapped after the Yarra City Council unanimously voted for its removal.
The statue, which stands at the entrance of Melbourne's Edinburgh Gardens, has been the target of repeated vandalism.
Currently in storage, the council suggests it will cost around $15,000 to repair and reinstate the statue, noting that $100,000 has already been spent maintaining it over the past 25 years.
The report also notes that the statue was of 'little to no' significance to the community and represents a 'contentious figure' for First Nations people.
Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan says she's disappointed by the decision.
"This is very much a matter for the Yarra City Council, and it is disappointing, it is disappointing. They've clearly weighed up all of those all of those factors and it's a decision that they've made."
